Can I Add A Photo To My T-Shirt Quilt?

Adding Photos to a T-Shirt or Memory Quilt

T-Shirt quilts are like billboards.  They tell everyone what you like to do, where you've been or even where you're going.  Photos on t-shirts are just that extra special sauce to make your memory or t-shirt quilt awesome!

Consider Using images Like:

  • photos (kids, pets, school fun, vacation, family group, best friends, picnics, holidays)
  • text
  • poem ( or special sentiment that might be too much embroider)
  • wedding invitation
  • graduation announcement
  • school logos
  • student art
  • reunion or events tee shirts

Getting Your T-Shirts Ready For A Quilt

Clean T-Shirts and Clothing

First and foremost, all tee shirts and clothing should be clean.  Obvious you say... but if you send t-shirts that smell like smoke or mothballs ( or worse - sweat*) - your quilt is going to smell like mothballs!!!

*Note - for odors that don't seem to want to come out of clothing like athletic jerseys; just add a cup of vinegar to the laundry during the soap cycle.

You did WHAT with my T-Shirts?

Can You Believe THIS is What Some Folks Consider a T-Shirt QUILT???

There are a lot of folks out there making T-Shirt Quilts. Or rather, should I say t-shirt comforters or blankets. There is a new company out there professing to be the 'cheapest' on the web. I have had several of those 'cheap' blankets come to my shop with either the mom in tears because the t-shirts were ruined, or the recipient in tears because the 'blanket' was awful.... Whatever the issue, you just know that this 'blanket' was done poorly, and you know it will never be used or displayed in public.

We do 'Tiny T-Shirt' quilts all the time. You get all these cute little outfits when the new baby comes, and well into the toddler years. What can you do with all these items of clothing?

Theme T-Shirt Quilt of The Week - Vintage Cars

One of my favorite quilts that we completed for Christmas was a large quilt with 25 t-shirts (king size). These t-shirts were from many and assorted car shows from the Southeast area of the country. I guess if you are in Florida, (maybe retired) and have a great car to show off, you go to car shows and display your car. We used to go to these type of shows when hubby had his vintage '57 MGA . Love looking at those vintage sport and muscle cars.
